Contemplation along with Meditation — Dey
Ancient religions say—that life energy in the universe exists since before time — its eternal. It existed when universe did not came into being and it will exist after the universe ends. It is the formless form. The ideas of Dharma and Karma also relate to law of universe and spiritual energy.
Here is an intriguing phenomenon which i looked up and found well-researched scientific explanation for the extraordinary existence of it on our planet. They rule out supernatural or extraterrestrial involvement. Well, it still exists and its still miraculous in a way. What is it ?
A natural open air nuclear reactor existing in Africa’s nation of Gabon since forever.
Meet Oklo, the Earth’s 2 billion-year-old natural nuclear reactor
While nuclear power plants have been around since the 50s, “natural” nuclear reactors are estimated to be around 2 billion years old
All the right elements and timing achieved 2 billion years ago…naturally??!!
For such a phenomenon to have happened naturally, these uranium deposits in western Equatorial Africa must have had to contain a critical mass of U-235 to start the reaction. Back in those days, they did.
A second contributing factor was that, for a nuclear chain reaction to happen and be maintained, there needed to be a moderator. In this case: water. Without water to slow the neutrons down, controlled fission would not have been possible. The atoms would simply not have split.
We want people to learn about natural radioactivity, to make them aware of the fact that radioactivity is all around us, that it’s natural, and that at low levels it’s not dangerous. — Ludovic Ferrière, Curator of the Rock Collection, Natural History Museum, Vienna, Austria
WHAT IS THIS NATURAL OPEN AIR NUCLEAR REACTOR
The time frame is approximately 2 billion years ago, and at least a billion years before the first dinosaurs appeared. In this prehistoric time and place, Gabon’s rich uranium ore deposits, combined with the air and groundwater, became nature’s nuclear reactors.
The Oklo region of Gabon in Western Africa is home to the world’s only known natural nuclear reactor. The reactor was discovered in 1972 by a uranium worker.
How it was discovered
A uranium worker discovered the reactor while checking enrichment.
Physicists initially thought the uranium ore had undergone artificial fission.
However, analyses of the rock confirmed that the uranium ore was natural.
How it operated
The reactor ran for about 150,000 years, producing pulses of power every three hours.
The reactor was self-regulating, with on/off cycles of three hours.
The reactor produced 100 kW of power.
How it formed
The reactor formed when a uranium-rich mineral deposit became inundated with groundwater.
The groundwater acted as a moderator for the neutrons produced by nuclear fission.
Why it’s important
The Oklo phenomenon is of considerable interest to geologists, isotope geochemists and reactor physicists.
Hope this helps people reflect upon themselves and their planet, the only body and the only planet we have to live in. So please be nice to yourself and to your fellow life forms and to the home we call planet Earth. In the long history of existence of this planet, our life is as if a flap of a honeybee’s wing–it is as brief, our entire lifespan from birth to death–which means it makes no significant influence unless you make an extra effort to be good or evil.
Be nice, revise.
There is always an opportunity to be kind. There is always an opportunity to be better. One can start now. One can start with oneself. Extend it outwards toward your family members, your neighbors, your city’s residents, your fellow citizens, the ones far away in nations across the globe. A chain reaction.
Now imagine the insect and weed to be the same creator’s creation as the one who created you and your lovely pet dog or cat. How is one precious and beautiful while the other has no right to existence on this planet. Find a way to accommodate and coexist in an ecosystem that will always give you back more than anything you can offer it in your fractional lifespan on this floating ball of dust and ashes.
Be At Peace (BAP).
